out of the trunk of a tree by a Civil War vet-
eran. There are 40 figures on all sides, repre-
senting animals, birds, etc.
SCYTHE TREE near Geneva, N. Y. In
1861 James Wyburn came in from the fields
carrying his scythe. Hearing of the fighting at
Ft. Sumter he placed the scythe in the tree.
He fell in battle but the scythe still remains; T
but six inches of the blade now visible.
