The Tower of Victory was erected in 1883 at the Centen-
nial Celebration, jointly by U. S. Government, N. Y. State,
and City of Newburgh, to celebrate the disbanding of the
Revolutionary Army in 1783. It stands in the Northeast.sec-
tion of Washington Headquarters. In it, is a large statue of
George Washington. It has spiral stair-ways ascending to its
lofty observation tower from which a fine view of the River
and surrounding country may be had.
