City Prison, known as "The Tombs." is located on the cor-
ner of Leonard and Centre Streets, a dismal structure of
Egyptian architecture where prisoners are held pending trial,
connected to Criminal Courts Building by the famous "Bridge
of Sighs," which forms an arch between the two buildings
over Franklin Street.
