Largest of their kind in the U.S., covering about 70 acres of ground. They were founded in 1882, and now employ over 2,090 men. Their products, amounting to about 1,000 tons a day, are the best upon the market. The limestone is conveyed five miles by an overhead bucked line, while the brine (salt) is also conducted from the wells in large pipes for many miles.
