Fair Play Fire Company No. 1, chartered Sep-
tember 6, 1849, is the oldest volunteer fire company
in Indiana and first saw action as a "Bucket Bri-
gade." A hand drawn piece of equipment, pur-
chased in 1851, is still in possession of the company.
The weathervane, atop the belltower, is a landmark
more than 80 years old.
