FROM the time LaSalle discovered
the territóry now known as the
"Hoosier State" to the present,
many historical events have trans-
pired. Chief among these was the
battle of the Tippecanoe, fought
between General Harrison and
Chief Tecumseh, near the "Indiana
Trail" in 1811. On July 4. 1854, the
Monon Railroad ran its first train
over this trail. "Monen" is an
Indian word meaning "swift run-
ning."
