Mobile is the largest ship building and ship repairing center on the Gulf of Mexico. The docks of the city are constantly busy, being a major port of gulf and ocean distribution. Among the foremost advantages offered at the State Docks are the tree shipside railroad tracks on each of the 1600-foot apron-wharves, the cross-overs between ship's berths; thus uninterrupting switching of cars to any point on the wharves while ships are loading or unloading cars.
