Louisiana's beautiful old State Capitol was
erected in 1847, an impressive structure of Goth-
ic architecture, closely allied with the interest-
ing history of the state. It was burned during
the Civil War, but was rebuilt in 1880 to be-
come one of the many points of historical inter-
est visited by large numbers of tourists annually.
