Home of Gov. Isaac Tichenor. Born
Feb. 8; 1754, in Newark, N. J. Came to
Bennington in 1777 as Deputy Com-
missary of the Continental Army. He
was one of the most honored men of the
Country in his day.
Was Governor eleven years, United
States Senator and Chief Justice of the
Supreme Court. The bell in the Old
First Church was presented by him and
still bears his honored name. Died Dec.
11, 1838. Near the northwest corner of
the house' David Redding was publicly
hanged in 1778 for “Enemical conduct.
