This is a champion ram and ewe of
the Horned Dorset breed raised on the
Fillmore Farms, Bennington, Vermont.
While it is not generally known, we
have in Vermont, and particularly
about Bennington, the finest stock
raising section of New England. Our
pastures are well supplied with the
very best of natural pasture grasses
and they are particularly suited to the
raising of sheep of almost any breed,
but the Horned Dorset is easily in the
lead as a money maker. More prizes
have been taken by sheep bred here in
the past three years than by any other
breeder in America on home bred
animals and the natural advantages
of Vermont have a great deal to do
with obtaining these results.
