Ruins of one of several iron furnaces on
the estate of Seymour Van Santvoord.
These were operated to full capacity by
the old Bennington Iron Co. from 1810 to
1820, finally going out of existance about
1848.
Note the birch tree growing out from the
top and compare height of furnace with tall
man at base.
