ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH
First Catholics came to Columbia in 1821.
The building and fine library of The St. Mary's
College were burned by Sherman in February,
1865. Ursuline Convent established in 1891.
Present church building was started in 1906
and dedicated January 17, 1909 at a cost of
$60,506.64 for building and furnishings.
