Bird's-eye View of the Southern Portion of the City.
This picture shows the junction of the North and East
Rivers, together with the present bridges connecting the
city with the Borough of Brooklyn. It represents a true view
of the "down-town section," America's financial centre, and
the headquarters of the commercial, manufacturing, ship-
ping, mining and other interests. The city itself consists of
five boroughs-Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and
Richmond, and covers an area of 32634 square miles, with
a population of 4,019,000 (according to census of 1905).
