"Fred's Place," along the American River,
between Placerville and Lake Tahoe, Calif.
During "Pony Express Days" this was the
location of the popular "Ĉhamplain House'
which burned in 1864, then later rebuilt by
Fred Spriggs the present owner, who was the
first auto stage driver along this route.
