Deming, New Mexico
Deming received its name from Miss Mary Anne Deming
who became the wife of Charles Crocker. Crocker and his
associates built the early lines of Southern Pacific in this
territory: including the line thru Deming in 1881 when the
town was founded. The Deming area has been acclaimed
a rock-hunters paradise due to its wealth of rare stones.
