Seven family restaurants in Sacramento and San Francisco. Slugger Roger Maris of the New York Yankees examines the famous baseball he hit for his 61st home run, breaking Babe Ruth's 34-year-old major league record, after receiving it from Sam Gordon in a ceremony at Sam's Original Ranch Wagon in Sacramento. Gordon, restauranteur and fan, purchased the ball for $5,000 from Sal Durante, young Brooklyn spectator who caught it at Yankee Stadium October 1, 1961. Gordon brought Maris and Durante and his bride, Rosemary, to Sacramento in November for this memorable occasion.
