INTRODUCTION OF CROTON WATER-
The introduction of Croton water into the City of New
York in 1842 was marked by a monster celebration.
The arrival of the water was indicated by the gushing
of a fountain sixty feet high in the former portion of
the City Hall Park now occupied by the postoffice.
