Located on a 72-acre plot of ground on Jefferson Avenue owned by the city. The park in the front of this building is one of Detroit's beauty spots, and is thronged daily by thousands of visitors. The immense machinery pumps 105,000,000 gallons of water every twenty-four hours to all parts of the city, receiving the supply from Lake St. Clair, which is pumped through a long tunnel to the distributing point. On the right is shown the settling basin, which is 365 feet wide, 800 feet long, 15 feet deep and has a capacity of 30,000,000 gallons.
