Captain Page, a staunch patriot, had said that no tea should
be used under his roof. when on May 28, 1770, the people had
voted against its use under the tax imposed by Great Britain.
But Mistress Sarah Page thought no harm to sip tea with a
neighbor upon the roof, observing the letter of the Captain's
demand only. A fine example of the old Colonial mansion.
