City Hall Park, Burlington, Vt.
This land was reserved by the ori-
ginal settlers for a "Common." In it
have been held many famous outdoor
gatherings. Near the drinking foun-
tain stood the whipping post and the
stocks. The fountain was given by
John P. Howard, and the Soldiers'
monument by the Woman's Relief
Corps. On its eastern side are situated
the City Hall, G. A. R. quarters, Fire
Station No. 1, and the Y. M. C. A.
Building.
