Rail and Traffic Bridge, connecting. Louisiana
and Mississippi, across the Mississippi River at
Vicksburg, Miss. Completed in May, 1930, at
a cost of $8,500,000, taking 22 months to build.
It consists of seven piers and six spans, one of
which is 825 feet long, and the other five, 417
feet long. Total length, including approaches,
7,484 feet. Only bridge across the Mississippi
River between Memphis and the Gulf of Mex.
ico, making Vicksburg the Gateway City, between
the East and West
