Shepherd College, founded in 1871, is situated
along the south bank of the Potomac River in
Shepherdstown, W. Va. The oldest town in W.
Va., which was founded in 1762. in the dis-
tance can be seen South Mountain part of the
Appalachian chain extending from Maine to
Georgia. The Potomac River divides W. Va.
from Maryland along its entire course.
