Had a wonderful time at Rice's: food is delicious - you must try it! Amarillo, population (1958) approx. 150,000. Elev. 3,676 ft., coolest summer nights in Texas, is trade and amusement center of the Golden Spread region, an area as big as Ohio. Spanish conquistadores searched here for the Seven Cities of Cibola. A noted cowtown, Amarillo now is center of world's largest helium supply, rich oil and gas fields, wheat, cattle, cowboys, millions of irrigated acres. City has scores of ultra-modern motels, multi-million dollar shopping centers, western wear shops. Nearby attractions include - beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Panhandle-Plains Museum, America's famous First Boys Ranch on Canadian River at site of Tascosa, ghost town, foot of Boot Hill Cemetery.
