Dr. James Bliss served as a Surgeon's Mate in the Revolutionary War. During the winter months when no heat was available in the Meeting-house, town meetings would be adjourned to this home. Nearby stood the Redway plan, a muster ground for the Rehoboth Militia. In the foreground is a group of the newly activated, Colonel Thomas Carpenter militia, a veteran regiment of hte Revolution.
