PLACE
ST. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Marietta, Georgia. This
classic edifice, built in 1842, was used as a hospital by
Federal soldiers in 1864 and then damaged by them. Here
just after the War, a Northern officer married a Southern
girl. The wedding caused a furor. The organist, playing
under protest, dressed in deep mourning and played the
wedding march in funeral time.
