Additional Details:
The Sea Horse - amazing ornament of the sea, with his graceful lines and pony-shaped head, does not look like, but is, a member of the fish family. Unlike most fish, the sea horse has an external skeleton of rigid plates and thorny spines. Using his single back fin the sea horse swims slowly about in his search for food which consists of plankton, or microscopic sea life. Mysteriously, it is the male and not the female, who gives birth to their young. The female deposits her 20 or 30 eggs in the pouch or "vest pocket" (similar to that of the kangaroo) of the male who incubates them until they hatch. In recent years the sea horse has become popular as a salt water aquarium "pet"
