NEW ORLEANS, LA.
The ancient Archbishopric is situated on Chartres St.
between Hospital and Ursuline, erected 1727 for the Ursu-
line Nuns, who resided here until 1824 and who afterwards
presented it to the then reigning Archbishop of N. O. as
residence for the Archbishops of the Diocese and it was so
used until 1899. It is still used for the transaction of the
official business of the Archdiocese.
