The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
was organized at Fayette, Seneca County, New York,
Tuesday, April 6th, 1830. Six men participated in the
organization, viz; Joseph Smith, Jr., Oliver Cowdery,
Hyrum Smith, Peter Whitmer, Samuel H. Smith, and
David Whitmer. Today the church membership num-
bers close to half a million.
