Green River, on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, is a traffic control point of this railroad system. The Green River is one of the tributaries of the Colorado River. Early settlers of this region devised many ways of raising the water of this river onto the fertile land. The water wheel was one of the successful methods adopted. Among other products Green River melons are shipped in carload lots to many points east of Chicago where they are featured on menus of the finest hotels at premium prices.
