SPOT WHERE GENERALS LEE AND GRANT
MET. In April, 1865, the commanding generals of the Con.
federate and Union armies met for conference on the old stage
road about half way between the Court House and the River,
and about 400 yards from each. This coming together of
Generals Lee and Grant was one of the most memorable events
of 1865.
