THE STORY OF BETHLEHEM in Jersey City
The Nativity Scene depicted was designed and
constructed in the recreational centers of Jersey
City. It is finished in oil colors and covers an
area of more than 18,000 square feet. The
background, of the Town of Bethlehem, extends
92-feet in length and rises 20-feet in height. All
the traditional figures are life size. The live-
stock includes a donkey, a cow, and a flock of
sheep. This Christmas Set was made possible
through the interest and cooperation of John V.
Kenny, Mayor of Jersey City ; Bernard J. Berry,
Commissioner of Parks and Public Property and
Deputy Mayor William J. Flanagan. The
Nativity may be viewed until Little Christmas,
Tuesday, January 6th.
