Q. What is the Branford Community Council ?
A. It is an organization of Branford people banded to-
gether irrespective of race or creed, for the purpose
of making Branford a better place in which to live.
Q. What has it done ?
A. 1. Organized less than a year, it has secured a
Community House, in which free instruction
classes in cooking, sewing, home making, me-
chanical drawing, and other practical subjects are
being held.
2. A Kindergarten has been opened under the
direction of a trained kindergarten teacher.
3. A public rest room has been provided.
4. Headquarters for the Gaylord Health Center
and The Visiting Nurse Association have been
established, whereby the splendid work of these
organizations will be greatly facilitated.
5. The Community House is also a center for
recreational and educational work.
6. Under the supervision of the Recreational Com-
mittee, the young people will have the use of
the house one night each week for social activity.
Q. How is the work supported ?
A. Through membership dues of one dollar per member,
voluntary contributions by interested friends, and by
food sales and other activities of the various com-
mittees of the council.
The Community Council is the distinctive community
organization of Branford.
