TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH STAUNTON, VA. When the British troops occupied Richmond during the Revolution, the Virginia legislature fled to Charlottes- ville and then upon the approach of Tarleton to Staunton. From June 7 to 23, 1781, the legislative sessions were held in the original Trinity which stood on the site of the beautiful vine-clad edifice and was the first house of worship in Staun- ton. Among the assemblymen who met here were Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee and other notables. On June 19th the Legi lature here elected Gen.
