The feste Bridge, Cologne. This is the most
important bridge across the Rhine at Cologne. It was opened
in 1859 and in addition to the Railway it provides accomo-
dation for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It is 480 yards
long an 7 feet above the surface of the river.
