THE ELK'S MAUSOLEUM, GREENWOOD CEMETERY.NEW ORLEANS,LA. THIS SPLENDID TOMB ERECTED IN 1912 UNDER THE ADMINISTRATION OF EXALTED RULER W. C. MURPHY IS LOCATED IN GREENWOOD CEMETERY, AT THE HEAD OF CANAL STREET. THE TOMB IS BUILT OF GEORGIA WHITE MARBLE AND IS SURMOUNTED BY A LIFE SIZE BRONZE ELK. THE INCIPIECY OF THE MOVEMENT THAT BROUGHT ABOUT THE BUILDING OF THE TOMB IS DUE TO MR. J. J. LEA. THE INSIGNIA OF THE ORDER IS A STRIKING FEATURE OF THE TOMB AND ALL PERSONS CAN SEE THE CLOCK FACE WITH ITS HANDS AT 11 O'CLOCK, REMINDING ALL ELKS TO THINK OF THEIR ABSENT BROTHERS, WHETHER IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING OR IN THE GRAND LODGE ABOVE.
