MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA
The fishing boats of Morro Bay ride at anchor under the
shadow of Morrow Rock, often called "The Gibralter of the
Pacific". Soldiers of Gaspar de Portola's expedition made
camp on a hill overlooking the bay, Sept. 8, 1769. This 576
foot high rock is made up of trachyte (volcanic rock). The
area is very popular as a resort in both summer and winter,
