| The painting by Herndom Davis hangs in the Vendome Hotel in Leadville, Colo. The Ice Palace opened on New Years Day 1896. It measured 325 ft. by 180 ft. with towers reaching 90 ft. It was dedicated to winter fun and contained a skating rink, dance floor, curling rink, restaurant, gaming rooms etc. It remained open till spring thaws took their toll. |
