The balcony surrounding the main lobby of the hotel is a fine example of the rich decorative effect secured by hand-carved woodwork. Art glass windows and ceiling give soft tone to the carvings. The magnificent swinging bronze candelabrum is itself a work of art. The Peninsula is in the center of a great country estate only thirty minutes from San Francisco.
