RIVER. The Clyde Line steamships ascend the river as
far as Sanford and other steamers as far as Green Cove Springs.
Jacksonville, the largest city of Florida is situated on the left
bank of the river, twenty-five miles from the sea. The whole
course of the river is about 300 miles. Its banks are lined
with a luxuriant tropical vegetation. The busy wharves of
Jacksonville and the Florida East Coast Railway bridge appear
in this picture.
