SOME FACTS ABOUT VICTORIA (AUST.)
(A Country which is progressive and prosperous, where
Settlers are required and will be gladly welcomed.)
THE GOVERNMENT OF VICTORIA owns and has control of
all the railway systems and also the water supplies of the State,
and has expended over $16,000,000 in Irrigation projects.
The Climate of Victoria resembles that of California. It is one
of the Richest Dairying countries in the world, and is fast becom-
ing a great Fruit-producing State. Alfalfa will give six and some-
times more cuttings per annum. Hogs and Poultry thrive well,
and are a source of great profit. Cereal growing has been one of
the principal rural industries of the State for many years.
The Government invites Settlers to come to Victoria, prefer-
ence being given to those experienced in Irrigation and possessed
of sufficient Capital to take up land, say $1,500. Intending
Settlers may obtain Reduced Steamship Fares when travelling
to Victoria, and special arrangements are also made for their con-
veyance on the State-owned Railways at Low Rates to and from
the districts where land is available.
