Columbian new deep well at Carpinteria is going down finely without a hitch, now 360 feet deep,
still in liquid asphaltum. Our foreman, Mr. Cook, is a pastmaster in the art of drilling and is doing
good work. Large quantities of asphaltum are opened up ready for refining. The refinery machinery
• is being rapidly put in place, and as soon as all parts are assembled we can start up full capacity with
every assurance of great financial success.
