Dear Friend: On behalf of myself and associates of the San Francisco Police Department, I earnestly appeal to you for your support of CHARTER AMENDMENT NUMBER 25 to be voted on at the coming election on Tuesday, November 6th, 1928. The purpose of the Amendment is to provide a pension for the members of the San Francisco Police Department and to provide a means of protection for the wife and children of an officer killed in the performance of his duty. The element of risk is great, twenty-five members of the Department having been murdered since 1906, and many injured in the performance of their duty.
