Founded in 1852 and privately supported,
the Society collects, preserves, and
disseminates information relating to the
history of California and the American West.
FLEUR-DE-LIS ROOM - A period-piece bath of
1896 on the third floor of the Mansion. The
fleur-de-lis motif is repeated on the imported
tiles, in high relief on ihe outside of the tub,
and delicately inscribed in gold inside the bowl
of the marble washbasin. The fixtures are of
German silver with quartz handles.
