Wanamakers Mailing Card 1876-32d Anniversary-1908 Martin Van Buren was a genial man, with a good head for business and an able head for politics. He was so skilful in handling part machinery that he was called "the little magician." He was made Secretary of State in 1829, and four years later was Vice President with Jackson, whose successor he afterward became.
