WILLIAM MCKINLEY
was a product of the Ohio public schools,
to which he brought a studious nature.
He had a taste for economic science, and
while in Congress framed the tariff of 1890.
In the Civil War he was made Major for
gallantry. He was twice elected Governor,
and in 1896 was chosen President. He was
shot at Buffalo, September 6, 1901, dying
eight days later.
