Born February 9, 1773, Died April 4, 1841. Wanamaker's Mailing Card. 1876 32nd Anniversary - 1908. William Henry Harrison who was inaugurated in 1841, died just one month later, his death having been hastened by the persistent hand-shaking of office-seekers. He was a feeble old man at the time of his election. He reached the Capital in a driving snowstorm, and walked from the depot to his hotel with his head uncovered. So broken down was he by the excitement, fatigue and exposure, that during the inaugural it was necessary to remove him to a side room and bathe his temples with brandy before taking his oath. |
