Additional Details:
The headquarters house was the home of Isaac Potts, a prominent and well-to-do resident, who owned and operated the mills at Valley Forge. When Washington came, he occupied his army tent and shared the log fires with his soldiers, but on Christmas Day, 1777, it is stated, he accepted the offer of Mr. Potts to make his home the headquarters. Washington remained here until June 19th, 1778. The house is in a fine state of preservation, stands near the mouth of Valley Forge stream and has an outlook on the river.
