A MESSAGE TO ALL
by
FRANK MILBURN
If your skies are leaden and your heart is sad,
Don't weep and give up in despair;
Sing a cheerful song, and try to be glad,
Though the world may treat you unfair.
The banner of hope ficats alcft infurled,
You may feel it's great help if you will;
There's plenty of good in this beautiful world,
If we accept it instead of the ills.
Don't foster an enmity or cherish a wrong,
For we are all worms of the dust;
But accord forgiveness with tuneful song,
And be merciful and kind and just.
Don't bow to misfortune but keep up your nerve,
When the clouds gather threatening and low;
Hold plenty of pluck and determined reserve,
To conquer this treacherous foe.
Don't look upon life as a farcical sham
With dregs as bitter as gall,
But make it a rhyme of heavenly calm,
By dispensing sweetness to all.
Gather in all the sunshine that life affords;
Don't whine like a motherless hind,
Take all the good that the gods providerious.
And cast all the bad to the wind.
