Socrates, Greek philospher and divine teacher
was born 469 b. C. In 399 b. C. he was convicted of
denying the gods recognized by the state and cor-
rupting the young. Serving thirty days imprisonment,
he drank the "Cup of Hemlockâ after having refused
an escape from prison, which was arranged by his
friend Crito.
