THE UNIVERSAL QUESTION
"Now who can beat Bill, except Teddy?"
You hear it wherever you go.
"Oh, who can beat Bill except Teddy f
They shriek it in accents of woe,
"Now who except Ted can beat Billle ?"
Thy vary it thus for a change.
"Pray who except Ted can beat Billy?"
No longer the query seems strange.
"Say, who can beat Bryan but Rooseveltr"
The Demmies are asking in glee.
"He's said he wont run and the blow's felt
By all the poor G. O. P."
"Why, who can beat Bryan but Roosevelt"
The power-party leaders inquire,
"Yes, who can beat Bryan but Roosevelt"
They fear that the fat's in the fire.
Now is it for loving of Teddy
The leaders are thusly concerned?
Can they have forgotten already
The sickening lessons they've learned?
Indeed they have not, but it pains them
To know that the mind of the mob
Is set on the man that restrains them-
They're fond of their Washington job.
"Oh, who can beat Bill except Teddy?"
They ask vou and smile as they ask,
"Can any beat Bill except Teddyl
The answer seems scarcely a task.
"Can any but Teddy lick Bllly?
You hear it wherever you go.
And, wise the conclusion or slly.
